Finance, Savings,

I am becoming incresaingly dissapointed with financial institutuins that claim to look after your future pension money or savings, only to find out that you have lost all your hard earned cash OR a clause that you were not told about comes into play…

I have an elderly freind who has been taken for a ride by a so called well to do financial instituion! BUT it seems that as the policy lapsed, without anyone telling him..his value od the trust is zero??? How on earth can you save money with people and NOT get your money back…

Are all Financial institutions theives in suites? Are there good ones out there?

My freind has lost his entire savings?  Im gobsmacked for him….I will soon post the names of the companies.

Is it legal?Image

Time for us all?

Is it me, or is the world getting busier and the people ,Image follow suite? I have found over the past few months, people see I am ringing them but they switch off because “its only me” they are too busy to chat, The restaurants are full of people cradling their phones..lines of people who use them instead of talking to one another..Its quite comical to watch…

People are becoming increasingly late for meetings, or cancelling at the last minute because “something important came up” arn’t we ALL important? don’t we ALL deserve proper time?

I think maybe if we “stop to smell the roses” from time to time..Our lives would be far richer.

On this day…

Cada dia tenho menos uma letra,
uma boca e a mão para a dizer.
Fui colhendo a noite, palavras surdas,
o silêncio que a morte continua
sob a pele da madrugada.
Cada dia tenho menos um coração,
menos uma noite. Resta-me a memória

A giggle!

A lady about 8 months pregnant got on a bus. She noticed the man opposite her was smiling at her. She immediately moved to another seat.

This time the smile turned into a grin, so she moved again. The man seemed more amused. When on the fourth move, the man burst out laughing, she complained to the driver and he had the man arrested. … The case came up in court.

The judge asked the man (about 20 years old) what he had to say for himself. .

The man replied, ‘Well your Honor, it was like this…when the lady got on the bus, I couldn’t help but notice her condition.

She sat down under a sign that said, ‘The Double Mint Twins are coming’ and I grinned.

Then she moved and sat under a sign that said, ‘Logan’s Liniment will reduce the swelling,’ and I had to smile.

Then she placed herself under a deodorant sign that said, ‘William’s Big Stick Did the Trick,’ and I could hardly contain myself.

But, Your Honor, when she moved the fourth time and sat under a sign that said, ‘Goodyear Rubber could have prevented this Accident!’ …. I just lost it!

Time…Oh Time…

SON: “Daddy, may I ask you a question?”
DAD: “Yeah sure, what is it?”
SON: “Daddy, how much do you make an hour?”
DAD: “That’s none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?”
SON: “I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?”
DAD: “If you must know, I make $100 an hour.”
SON: “Oh! (With his head down).
SON: “Daddy, may I please borrow $50?”
The father was furious.
DAD: “If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish. I work hard everyday for such this childish behavior.”

The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door.
The man sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy’s questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?
After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down, and started to think:
Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $ 50 and he really didn’t ask for money very often. The man went to the door of the little boy’s room and opened the door.

DAD: “Are you asleep, son?”

SON: “No daddy, I’m awake”.
DAD: “I’ve been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier. It’s been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here’s the $50 you asked for.”

The little boy sat straight up, smiling.
SON: “Oh, thank you daddy!”
Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills. The man saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry again. The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up at his father.

DAD: “Why do you want more money if you already have some?”

SON: “Because I didn’t have enough, but now I do.

“Daddy, I have $100 now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you.”
The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little son, and he begged for his forgiveness. It’s just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life. We should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some time with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts. Do remember to share that $100 worth of your time with someone you love? If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of days. But the family and friends we leave behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives. And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more into work than to our family

IMPOSSIBILITIES IN THE WORLD

IMPOSSIBILITIES IN THE WORLD

1)    You can’t count your hair.
2)    You can’t wash your eyes with soap.
3)    You can’t breathe when your tongue is out.
Put your tongue back in your mouth, you silly person.

Ten (10) Things I know about you….
1) You are reading this
2) You are human.
3) You can’t say the letter ”P” without separating your lips.
4) You just attempted to do it.
6) You are laughing at yourself.
7) You have a smile on your face and you skipped No. 5.
8) You just checked to see if there is a No. 5.
9) You laugh at this because you are a fun loving person & everyone does it too.
10) You are probably going to send this to see who else falls for it.

Have a great Day.  Laugh, and then laugh some more and sing “Oh, What a Beautiful Morning” – even when it’s not.

“Do not regret growing older.  It is a privilege denied to many.”

The Archimedes Palimpsest

The Archimedes Palimpsest is the name given to a Byzantine prayer-book which was written over a number of earlier manuscripts, including three unique examples containing works by Archimedes, unquestionably the greatest mathematician of antiquity. Sold at auction in 1998, it has since been the subject of a privately funded project to conserve, image and transcribe its texts. In this volume the scientists, conservators, classicists and historians involved in the project discuss in full their techniques and their discoveries. These include new speeches by the classical Athenian orator Hyperides, a lost commentary on Aristotle’s Categories from the second or third century AD and substantial re-readings and reinterpretations of the works by Archimedes. The book discusses the pioneering imaging and post-processing techniques used to reveal the texts and includes detailed codicological descriptions of all eight manuscripts comprising the Palimpsest. It will be of interest to manuscript scholars, classicists and historians of science.Image

This ingenious man who discovered so many wonderful things..ending his life on the edge of a Roman sword was such a shame…Just think if what we may have learned from this genius had he lived a little longer…
